With Kristoff, there's always a lot of good tobacco for cheap money - and in the case of this luscious Gran Toro, with a smoking time of approx. 90 - 110 minutes, also a good portion of nicotine! Because, as the reference to the ligero leaves included suggests, this is one of the strongest Kristoff series.
Flavours
Surprisingly fruity, the 56 presents itself as one of the most multi-layered cigars in its price range. The manufacturer's information is quite correct in its mention of dark berries - a corresponding note with ripe sweetness, but also sour undertones runs through the entire course of the smoke. It harmonises perfectly with the Maduro-typical leading aromas of strong coffee, dark chocolate and peat, which take up more space in the second half without pushing the sweet facets into the background. Towards the finish, more spice appears and the fat ligero flavours smoothly remind of olives.

Man kennt eine ähnliche Geschichte bereits von Rocky Patel: Wie auch bei Rocky konnte Glen Case, der Gründer der Boutique-Zigarren-Marke aus der Dominikanischen Republik, ebenfalls auf eine sehr erfolgreiche Karriere in einem ganz anderen Segment zurückblicken bevor er „in Zigarren machte“. Fast zwei Jahrzehnte war Glen erfolgreich im Finanzbereich tätig, davon neun Jahre in einer hohen Position in einer der „Top fünf Banken“ der Vereinigten Staaten, wie er selbst sagt. Doch dies konnte ihn nicht glücklich machen, so war es eine Mischung aus einer Art Midlife-Crises und der Frage danach, was er mit seinem restlichen Leben anfangen wollte, das ihn schließlich zum Tabak trieb. Da er schon immer sehr gern die guten Stumpen genossen hatte, wurde aus seinem einstigen Hobby schnell eine große Leidenschaft. Er nahm sich zunächst mehrere Jahre Zeit, um sich dem Thema Zigarren ausführlich zu widmen. 2004 wurde dann schließlich Kristoff Cigars gegründet.
