The name cigarillo comes from the Spanish (cigarillo) and translated means small cigar. Like most cigars, pure tobacco leaves are used for the insert, binder and wrapper in cigarillos. Cigarillos are the ideal companion for on the go or for a relaxed, short smoking pleasure in between. In terms of dimensions, cigarillos differ significantly from their big sisters, the cigars. They have an average length of 8 to 12 cm and a diameter between 0.5 and 1.5 cm. In addition, they are usually machine-made to ensure consistent quality. As a rule, cigarillos are not stored in the humidor, but it would not harm them either.
When storing cigarillos in a humidor, a maximum humidity of 65% should be ensured. There are two types of cigarillos. The ones with natural tobacco aromas and the flavored ones. With the latter, additional, artificial flavors such as coffee, vanilla and chocolate are added to the tobacco. Both variants are very popular with aficionadas and aficionados. Due to their small diameter, cigarillos develop a more intense sharpness, which is why milder tobacco types are used in the production, while the taste variety remains as high as with cigars.
