For those who don't want to cut up the long Toscano "roots" themselves, this short version of the "Classico" is the best choice. Just under half an hour of spicy smoking pleasure is in here - goes just as well with an espresso as it does with a beer.

Flavours

Unlike the other Toscanellos - which are also considerably lighter - this original version is not flavoured, but delights with the unadulterated, woody-spicy-roasty taste of fire-cured Kentucky tobacco. Medium-bodied and fully aromatic, with fine sweet and sour accents for all their heftiness, they offer a coherent and compact taste picture that connoisseurs have been honouring for many decades - not only in Italy. Despite their rustic appearance, the Steckerl burn perfectly.

Worth knowing

Importer Paul Bugge distributes his own brand from Dominican production as "Leonel". The Robusto of the basic series is the entry-level cigar par excellence - light, tasty, fairly priced and totally uncomplicated! Smoking time approx. 45 -55 minutes.

Aroma

A nicotine-strong heavyweight is not to be expected here, but rather a harmonious feel-good stogie for every time of day and year, whose well thought-out blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos in the Connecticut Shade wrapper presents a pleasingly colourful taste picture. Fresh grassiness and fine spicy tropical wood ethereal, creamy consistency and discreet sweetness on the palate, in the 2nd half also more pithy roasted aromas and piquant spices on the palate - despite the mild orientation is almost everything at the start, what the Aficionado likes to taste!

Worth knowing

As small as this distinctive cigar may be for about 30 - 40 minutes - it is in every respect a genuine Fuente of the classic series, completely handmade and with excellent Cameroon wrapper of the Meerapfel family in the dark variety.

Flavours

So little diameter, so much flavour! The medium-bodied small format delights with plenty of bittersweet cocoa flavour, malty earthy notes, elegant hints of tart freshness and coffee bean scent throughout. The smoke consistency is not a whit less silky than the thicker AF formats - a real masterpiece of the torcedores! And even at a length of only 10.5 cm, there is an aroma development - peat and roasted notes become steadily more concise without losing the delicate sweetness. Also interesting for fans of the "Anejo" series who are looking for a very small format!

Worth knowing

The Höldke family still knows what a real Churchill is! Their Caribbean-made house brand has classic 7"/47 dimensions, provides for about 80 - 100 minutes of enjoyment, and is a great introduction to such formats even for inexperienced aficionados

Flavors

Mild and sloppy-gentle, the soft but tasty blend also presents itself in this Vítola from the 1st to the last puff. The origin of the tobaccos is revealed in fine spicy cedar scent as well as elegant grassy-ethereal facets. The U.S. Connecticut wrapper contributes its characteristic blissful almond and latte flavors; and despite the very manageable strength, by all means a just-right dose of white pepper spice rounds out the palette with a pleasant tickle, contrasted again and again by hints of delicate fruit sweetness. A complex cigar!

The longest-produced Larranaga is also the longest-running. No wonder, because this classic Mareva delights for 35 - 50 minutes with a wonderful smoking sensation and is a secret favorite of many connoisseurs.

Flavours

Without doubt the most opulent, creamy and multi-layered Por Larranaga. The fantastic caramel flavor that unites all formats is complemented by a multi-faceted, elegant roasted aroma that is clearly reminiscent of light nuts and whose soft, sweetish notes nestle wonderfully on the palate. The smoke is dense and creamy; the woody, leathery component of the “Picadores” can only be detected in the background, while the floral aromas of the “Montecarlos” are more pronounced. The blend thus combines virtually all the characteristics of the endearing brand to create a rather light, yet fully aromatic cigar.

What could be more natural than to give a great torpedo the name of the novel from which the company name also comes? But don't worry, enjoying this pyrámide does not require in-depth knowledge of literature - just about 65 - 85 minutes!

Aroma

A smooth, palate-pleasing cigar that won't overwhelm anyone, but also offers enough intensity and variety for experienced smokers! Light nuts and buttered toast, freshly turned hay and finely spiced garden herbs, a hint of earth and in the second half also a cautious reach into the spice box - the excellently balanced play of aromas has several pleasant facets in store, and the usual transition from sweet to somewhat spicier tones takes place here with exemplary subtlety. In the end, wood and coffee notes predominate. A real PLV champion!

It is not without fatherly pride that we present the largest format of our super-premium house brand, which is inspired by a Vítola of a not entirely unknown Cuban brand. Our partners at Laura Chavin have succeeded in creating a soothing masterpiece in every respect – üconvince yourself for about 85 – 105 minutes!

Flavours

Now, at launch, it has been 11 years since the tobaccos used were harvested – you can taste it with every puff! The soft, pleasant smoke texture is at its best, the draw and burn are simply perfect – and in terms of flavour, an object lesson in elegance, harmony and balance has been achieved. A dense, Vuelta Abajo-like wood aroma, dark sweetness of forest honey, late liquorice and complex spicy notes combine to create a dreamlike smoking experience. Later, a voluminous bouquet of fruity facets comes to the fore, from cherry to cassis to figs; most beautifully complemented by very soft, velvety R&R and earthy aromas. Medium-bodied, but with a full body, this is a cigar for the special days in life!

We don't know if the famous French general and later president would have smoked this short Robusto - in any case, his name fits perfectly to this characterful and tradition-conscious cigar with a smoking time of about 50 - 60 minutes!

Flavours

Despite all the inevitable similarities, this series has succeeded magnificently in giving the individual formats their own flavour profile. The grassy, herbal freshness is more prominent than the cedar notes; at the same time, the smoke is somewhat sweeter than the Corona, for example. The velvety smooth smoke texture also brings nutty roasted aromas, the taste of white or toast bread and a hint of cocoa to the palate as it progresses; the strength remains in the lower mid-range almost throughout, so that even the inexperienced need not shy away from this extremely fairly priced cigar.

Worth knowing

Unfortunately, not all global Cuban cigar brands offer cigarillos. But Monte is represented with all the popular formats in top quality. The Rillo dwarfs for 10 minutes are just as convincing as the larger ones.

Flavours

Surprisingly, the small ones are not, as one would expect, stronger and spicier than the larger MC cigarillos. The aroma is essentially the same as that of the "Club" - including the surprisingly pronounced caramel sweetness for such thin short fillers. Of course, the roasted flavour is the focus, but at no time is it pointed or unpleasant. Rather, it is wonderfully integrated into the moderate spiciness and the typical coffee notes. Perfect for familiarising yourself with the brand!

Worth knowing

Hardly known in this country, the ristretto enjoys great popularity in Southern Europe. Like this super-strong mini-espresso, the "series" dwarfs seem - hello awake! The full load of Cuba in just under 10 minutes.

Flavours

Again, it would be, well, a lie to say that there is a big difference in flavour compared to the "Club" - but the small ones do have their own flavour, if only because of their format. You would never expect such an intensity of spice, roasted aroma and resinous-peaty depth of flavour from such small sticks, even connoisseurs of the brand were blown away at the market launch. Better not smoke a mild, light long filler too soon after enjoying a Mini - you'll still only taste the tiny Partagás!

Worth knowing

It goes without saying that this particularly popular thin format (approx. 10 minutes smoking time) should not be missing from the range of the only strong Habanos brand producing cigarillos! The beautiful boxes are based on the new look of the 2010 Tubos.

Flavours

Most Cuban cigarillos subvert the "the thinner, the stronger" rule that applies to identically blended longfillers (with exceptions!). These too tend to be a little lighter and milder than the larger "Chicos", yet just as tasty throughout. The great floral facets stand out particularly positively here, and the lingering sweetness lasts until the end. Otherwise, the brand's flavour picture is in fast forward on the palate - with wood, spices and that very own note that reminds some of incense.

Worth knowing

At 6" long, this is basically a relatively slim Toro with an appropriate smoking time of around 65 - 80 minutes. Like all classic MM.s, this one has its own unique flavour - a refined blend of tobacco in an elegant format!

Flavours

Fresh and fragrant notes of hay and herbs characterise the introduction to this smoking pleasure, harmoniously complemented by a sloppy, mild roasted flavour of latte. The aroma is most similar to that of the "De Gaulle" due to the format, but is a little woodier and also leathery; at the same time, the fermentation sweetness, which plays into the fruity here, is also a little more pronounced. Variety and development are particularly important in this Vítola. More toasty and pithy in the last third than at the beginning, it remains gentle and never goes beyond the middle of the strength scale.

Worth knowing

The long, thin format among the small short fillers from RyJ is one of the most popular Cuban cigarillos. An ideal first contact with the world of Cuban tobacco! Burns approx. 10 – 15 minutes.

Flavours

The differences in flavour to the „Minis“ (see there) are naturally – ümanageable. In fact, the longer cigarillo format has the perceptibly larger smoke volume, the somewhat softer and smoother aromas – more sweet and fragrant than woody, although the „Clubs“ also contain something of both worlds of taste. It is always amazing how well the Cubans manage to pack the brand character of their premium cigars into these small short fillers! Here, for example, you can taste hazelnut and red apples, and later also latte. Great!

Worth knowing

With this imposing Gordo, Ashton already spoiled the fans of "thick things" in a time when they were not yet quite so trendy. The six-incher in the beautiful Sungrown wrapper burns for about 80 - 95 minutes.

Flavours

Master Carlito has not really "toned down" the blend for this double toro - a classic heavy evening cigar, only VERY conditionally recommended for beginners. Those who like it strong and full-bodied will be delighted with this excellent tobacco at a really fair price, because the "Wizard" exudes the magical taste of roasted nuts, best coffee, tropical woods and very dark chocolate from the first puff, underlaid with a flattering sweetness that sometimes reminds one of dried figs. Quite strong from the start, but doesn't tighten much as it progresses and retains its great creaminess until put down.

Worth knowing

The handiest version of the classic cigarillo series brings its qualities across without any restrictions in just under 10 minutes. Ideal for first contact with the oldest Habanos brand!

Flavours

Here the assumption that such a small diameter must bring a lot of spice and intensity is more true than on the "Club". Earth, coffee beans, dark woods, with only a strikingly small amount of pepper, make for a mixture that is as pithy as it is delicate, with an honest-to-goodness tobacco flavour as well as more elegant nuances. Amazing how so little tobacco can stimulate so many areas of the palate! Fine and good-natured to the last puff.

Worth knowing

Probably the most appealing Vítola in the range for tradition-conscious aficionados! The classic long format delights for approx. 65 - 80 minutes with an extraordinary complexity in this price segment. Convince yourself of this ingenious new release!

Flavours

This format displays a wonderful, almost Churchill-like development! The start is playful, with floral aromas and cedary astringency, notes of café latte and caramel sweetness. Later, fruity aspects are added, as well as a distinguished roasted character and multi-faceted spiciness - initially nutmeg and cinnamon, followed by ginger and green pepper. The subtle sweetness persists until the end, although spicy and smoky notes make the music in the last third of the somewhat above-average strength of the smoke. Special recommendation, it's a massive hit!

Worth knowing

The oversize “Mi Amor” with RM 58 naturally spits out the thickest clouds of smoke. Be careful, it is only slightly lighter than the smaller formats! Here you can taste the full intensity of first-class Nicaraguan tobacco for approx. 80 - 90 minutes.

Flavor

Like the other “MA” formats, this one is carried by a veritable flood of delicious coffee aromas - roasty, “umami”, spicy-herbal, with a slightly sweet base. Blender Pepín Garcia has, of course, conjured up a whole host of harmonious accompanying notes in the blend - dried fruit and soft earth, dark woods and just the right dose of black pepper play catcher on the palate. Leather and bread crust as well as the typical spicy raciness of the San Andrés wrapper also play a role time and again. A decent strength makes the smoke more suitable for experienced smokers. Top PLV!

Aficionados with a penchant for strong, intense cigarillos were thrilled when three short-filler formats appeared in boxes in 2014 with the deadly chic black and red design of the Partagás "Series". The long thin burns for about 15 minutes.

Flavours

While the "Serie" long fillers are quite different in character, the cigarillos in the series basically offer an even stronger and more flavour-intensive alternative to the classic cigarillo line. The flavour is distinctly earthy and spicy, with a pleasantly warming peppery tickle and mouth-filling, earthy tobacco aroma. At the same time, softer tones also provide balance, such as the resin scent typical of the brand and great coffee roast notes. A racy and exciting smoking pleasure!

Worth knowing

Thicknesses can be very sensual – this – short smoke, for example, looks simply stunning in its shimmering Maduro wrapper! The baroque RM provides about 45 – 55 minutes of wonderfully cool smoke.

Fancy a friendly little smoke bomb? Not every „Short Smoke“ knows how to inspire, but here the trend format has been implemented brilliantly. Super-creamy clouds of smoke enmesh the delicious scent of fresh coffee and roasted almonds, noble wood and men's chocolate, garnished with a finely dosed pinch of pepper and nutmeg. Underlying sweetness and recurring fruity notes make the cigar as exciting and complex as its big sisters – the smoke texture is even sweeter. Medium-bodied, with a full body and perfect burn!

One is almost inclined to advise diabetics against enjoying this cigar, so beguilingly intense is its wonderful sweetness. Only in a few blends does the natural sugar content of long-fermented tobacco come to the fore in such an undisguised way - albeit in a very engaging way, without any intrusiveness. Caffé latte, milk chocolate, roasted almonds, vanilla, a very gentle roasted taste, finely spiced cedar... a feather-light dream of smoking pleasure. Anyone who has not smoked cigars for long or only rarely and is looking for a special large format will find what they are looking for here.
