Down-to-earth and hearty like the people from the surroundings of brick factories and workers' houses - such is the image of this inexpensive but enjoyable brand! The dark version of the six-incher with approx. 70 - 85 minutes of smoking time is no exception.

What a delicious, typical Maduro for this price! The permanent chocolate note changes in the course of the smoke from full milk to plain; the solid scent of dark woods, however, remains constant, as does the noticeable milk coffee creaminess with a nutty touch (almond). The pleasantly broad spectrum is complemented by cinnamon-spicy spicy notes. In the second half, earthy facets increasingly come to the fore. The sweetness of the medium-strong smoke is discreet, but lasts until the finish. In the finish, its spiciness becomes a little more prominent without overpowering the balanced flavour.

Worth knowing

As small as this distinctive cigar may be for about 30 - 40 minutes - it is in every respect a genuine Fuente of the classic series, completely handmade and with excellent Cameroon wrapper of the Meerapfel family in the dark variety.

Flavours

So little diameter, so much flavour! The medium-bodied small format delights with plenty of bittersweet cocoa flavour, malty earthy notes, elegant hints of tart freshness and coffee bean scent throughout. The smoke consistency is not a whit less silky than the thicker AF formats - a real masterpiece of the torcedores! And even at a length of only 10.5 cm, there is an aroma development - peat and roasted notes become steadily more concise without losing the delicate sweetness. Also interesting for fans of the "Anejo" series who are looking for a very small format!

Worth knowing

We don't know if the famous French general and later president would have smoked this short Robusto - in any case, his name fits perfectly to this characterful and tradition-conscious cigar with a smoking time of about 50 - 60 minutes!

Flavours

Despite all the inevitable similarities, this series has succeeded magnificently in giving the individual formats their own flavour profile. The grassy, herbal freshness is more prominent than the cedar notes; at the same time, the smoke is somewhat sweeter than the Corona, for example. The velvety smooth smoke texture also brings nutty roasted aromas, the taste of white or toast bread and a hint of cocoa to the palate as it progresses; the strength remains in the lower mid-range almost throughout, so that even the inexperienced need not shy away from this extremely fairly priced cigar.

Worth knowing

Good friends share (almost) everything - this classic Italian dry cigar, for example, each half of which burns for almost half an hour. Medium-bodied and thus considerably lighter than its slightly higher-priced sisters - full-bodied everyday smoke!

Not only is the box lighter in colour than the other versions, the aroma is also "lighter in tone" - less heavy, earthy and toasty, but with more cedary and also leathery notes, a little sweeter, plus definitely blessed with a hint of fruity-ethereal acidity. The timeless combo of the best Dominican filler and a noble Cameroon wrapper from the Meerapfel family works in every format - and this extra-thin foil with a closed foot really makes its aroma palette shine! The flattering nutty/marzipan sweetness of the wrapper harmonises perfectly with the resinous "woody"-herbal spiciness of the blend, while finely woven spicy notes flit across the palate. In the background, a hint of cocoa spreads visibly, taking on an earthy character in the full-bodied last third. Medium-bodied tobacco, as spicy as it is charming.

Die Holzaromatik kommt hier etwas dunkler daher als bei den anderen Formaten, der Röstgeschmack – vor allem zu Beginn – noch markanter. Bald aber entfaltet die Zigarre mit super-cremigem Rauch und weichen Erd-, Nuss- und Cappuccino-Aromen ihren ganzen Charme. Die Stärke liegt durchwegs im mittleren Bereich; die feine Süße ist relativ deutlich ausgeprägt und nimmt im Verlauf untypischerweise noch ein bisschen zu. Ein heißer Tipp für Freunde barocker Short Smokes!

With this imposing Gordo, Ashton already spoiled the fans of "thick things" in a time when they were not yet quite so trendy. The six-incher in the beautiful Sungrown wrapper burns for about 80 - 95 minutes.

Flavours

Master Carlito has not really "toned down" the blend for this double toro - a classic heavy evening cigar, only VERY conditionally recommended for beginners. Those who like it strong and full-bodied will be delighted with this excellent tobacco at a really fair price, because the "Wizard" exudes the magical taste of roasted nuts, best coffee, tropical woods and very dark chocolate from the first puff, underlaid with a flattering sweetness that sometimes reminds one of dried figs. Quite strong from the start, but doesn't tighten much as it progresses and retains its great creaminess until put down.

What you need to know

Such a seven-inch with RM 50 can easily be smoked for 1 ½ hours - without an overly oppressive nicotine rush due to the slightly reduced strength compared to the smaller Vítolas. A large format with a particularly attractive PLV!

Flavours

A little more moderate and sweet in flavour than the expressive Belicoso, this elegant cigar offers a rich bouquet of chocolaty, roasted and woody notes. The nutty character of the blend is particularly appealing here - almonds and hazelnuts at the start, before the noble, tart melting flavour of walnuts comes to the fore as the smoke progresses. With this ratio of wrapper and filler, the San Andrés wrapper with its finely interwoven, savoury spice tones is also strikingly noticeable. As expected, the intensity increases towards the end.

Worth knowing

The testers of the "Cigar Journal" gave this moderately priced Robusto Gordo an impressive 92 points. Not by chance, because the Nicaraguan blend in the dark Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper gives a lot of pleasure for about 55 - 60 minutes.

Flavours

In addition to the impeccable finish, the distinct "sweetness" of this cigar immediately stands out - mouthwatering creaminess and a super-pleasant smoke feel carry a coherent flavour picture that is reminiscent of dark chocolate as well as various spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, just a little pepper) and strong coffee with a little milk. Sweetness, spice and umami roast flavours with nutty overtones balance each other out very harmoniously; sultanas on the one hand and crunchy bread crust on the other also come through. Towards the end, the tasty, uncomplicated fun cigar becomes earthy-malty, the medium strength goes up a little.

The new edition of the popular "10 Series" looks like it has been through the hands of a tuner - lowered (boxpressed) and with metallic paint (new Anilla)! The blend of the critics' favourite with approx- 80 - 90 minutes smoking time has been left as it is, but the boxpressing intensifies the taste.

Flavours

Like the entire series, this format, which was praised in the "Cigar Journal", is particularly recommendable, as it is one of the most complex and expressive in its price class. While many other Sungrowns shine mainly with fruity sweetness, here we are met by a ravishing spicy aroma as if from the oriental bazaar, supported by a profound mocha flavour and the noble astringency of tropical wood. But this classic smoke also has softer notes to offer: roasted almonds, walnut, vanilla, with a hint of caramel in between. Fully aromatic, rather strong and an exciting, balanced pleasure until the end!

What you need to know

Perdomo has given the "10th" series a complete overhaul! Stylish new Anillas, the increasingly popular box-pressing, still fair prices - and a consistently great blend, here for approx. 55 - 65 minutes of smoking time.

Flavors

The Nicaraguan Puro immediately impresses with its wonderfully silky smoke. Piquant spice aromas, a generous portion of bitter-sweet cocoa and a seductive espresso aroma combine very harmoniously with subtle herbal notes and attractive traces of fruit flavor (cherry). The multi-layered taste of the medium-strength Robusto, which is quite strong in the last third, develops steadily over the course of the smoke towards earthier, more profound notes with a noble character, without losing its creaminess and sweetness. It is not without reason that the series is a critics' favorite!

Worth knowing

Of course, it's not really strong - but this impressive, purely Dominican cigar certainly has a little more power than the similarly sized Toro. By SD standards, it's more for the evening, perfect with a glass of rum! The smoking time is around 70 - 85 minutes.

Flavour

The flagship of the line literally has a little bit more of almost everything! More ripe fruit flavour and generally a more opulent sweetness, more roasted notes, complemented by a more racy, albeit still restrained spiciness - but above all a pronounced development in the course of the smoke, which leads from the usual mild start with a variety of "vegetal" aromas through the emphatically nutty-creamy 2nd third to a more intense finish characterised by toast, coffee and various spicy notes. The last puffs are earthy and toasty, definitely medium-bodied, yet still subliminally sweet. Great workmanship!
