The flagship of the line has not been around for long, but it has quickly become popular. Certainly not for ligero junkies, it is a true Garden of Eden for all those who love it mild. Smoking time approx. 80 - 95 minutes.

One is almost inclined to advise diabetics against enjoying this cigar, so beguilingly intense is its wonderful sweetness. Only in a few blends does the natural sugar content of long-fermented tobacco come to the fore in such an undisguised way - albeit in a very engaging way, without any intrusiveness. Caffé latte, milk chocolate, roasted almonds, vanilla, a very gentle roasted taste, finely spiced cedar... a feather-light dream of smoking pleasure. Anyone who has not smoked cigars for long or only rarely and is looking for a special large format will find what they are looking for here.

Classified by the manufacturer as medium-bodied, this giant is actually a rather light cigar - no harm in that size! The aroma, on the other hand, is of course of the most distinguished opulence! Fragrant, delicate herbal aromas, the unmistakable cedar bouquet of the blend and the sloppy sweetness of roasted almonds combine to create an exquisite taste picture. A delightful, well-tempered spiciness that includes a hint of nutmeg as well as salty mineral overtones. In the long course of the smoke, the nutty-roasty tones (walnut) become more concise, the fine spiciness somewhat more intense. An XXL format for fine spirits!

Elsewhere (Cuba), the three usually refers to the classic Corona format, but this cigar has more Toro dimensions. Until now, this great cigar has only been offered in a tubo, but even without a tubo it is a luxurious smoke for approx. 70 - 85 minutes.

Flavours

Toros stand for a great balance between the creaminess and opulence of a Robusto, but also the spice and aroma of a large Corona. At least that's how it should be, and of course the experts at Davidoff achieve this with ease. The charming tart and bitter notes of other series formats are also present here, but do not play first fiddle. Instead, the unmistakable leather note typical of the brand blends into the familiar nut/coffee flavor with cedary, spicy overtones that accompany the entire course of the smoke. Not the most varied cigar in the range, but one of the most balanced - perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon!

The Nicaragua line is particularly characterized by Sungrown-typical, intense exotic fruit sweetness with subtle acidic overtones. In the bestseller format, it is complemented extremely harmoniously by softer, creamier flavor facets (milk coffee, dark chocolate) as well as by the distinctive spice characteristic of this growing country, which is perfectly integrated here. Aromatically somewhat milder and more “umami” than its sisters, the Robusto is also a rather strong cigar with a full body. The interplay of aromas remains complex throughout.

In fact, this line always reminds you a little of the flavours of lighter Habanos brands - certainly neither a coincidence nor a detriment! The elegant leather flavour, which accompanies almost every Davidoff cigar to varying degrees, only plays a subordinate role here. The focus is on a wealth of attractive, sweetish, spicy wood flavours with an exotic feel; first and foremost, of course, the cedar. As the smoke progresses, it steadily develops more spice (including cinnamon) and body without ever losing its rather mild and playful basic character. Ein H2000-Sungrown-Deckblatt aus Ecuador? Nein, wie originell! Aber keine Sorge, hier passt es toll, und der Blend mit viel brasilianischem Cubra-Tabak ist tatsächlich sehr besonders. Elegantes 6“-Format – 65 – 80 Minuten Genuss.

Wer meint, Brasiltabak von zahllosen billigen Trockenstumpen und Zigarillos zu kennen, sollte diese Zigarre probieren! Sie schmeckt, mit Verlaub, einfach sexy! Von Beginn an ist eine markante Würze von Ingwer und Muskat zu schmecken; gleichzeitig Kaffee- und Kakaobohnen neben feiner Süße zwischen tropischen Früchten und Leder, die der dominikanische Tabak-Anteil einbringt. Der letztere Aspekt erinnert etwas an Davidoffs Nicaragua-Blend, allerdings in deutlich sanfterer Form. Eine tolle Balance kontrastierender Noten in samtigem Rauch. Ein Blend für die Sommernacht!

Auch als spontaner Erzähler (engl. „raconteur“) launiger Anekdoten war Sir Winston bekannt. Dieser tolle kleine „Bleistift“ für 20 – 30 Minuten trägt seinem Hang zur kurzen Form mit schlagender Pointe mustergültig Rechnung.

Erfreulich gutmütig und ohne spitze Töne bringt die kleinste Zigarre der Serie deren Charakteristik wunderbar auf den Punkt. Überraschenderweise überwiegen trotz des geringen Durchmessers eher die sanften Töne wie Caffè Latte, Karamell, Mandel und Creme; natürlich kommen aber auch die röstigen und würzigen Facetten, das feine Leder und die holzigen Nuancen nicht zu kurz. Gegen Ende treten ein erdig-malziger Grundton und die wärmende Würze grünen Pfeffers hinzu. Schöner Rauchverlauf für so ein kleines Teil – ein edler „Pausensnack“!

If you are used to the Cuban format standards, you will occasionally be amazed - this Vítola, for example, is far too short for a Toro and is actually a mighty Double Robusto. In any case, a great pastime for around 75 - 90 minutes.

Flavours

Similarly creamy and opulent as the “Gran Perfecto”, but with more development over the course of the smoke. The taste is very finely spun, focusing on bitter-sweet roasted coffee aromas rather than chocolate and thrives on its rich variety of jammy fruit sweetness, dark wood tannins, a pinch of pepper and the typical Davidoff leather scent. After the halfway point, the trail leads towards malt and earth, but the cigar remains sweet and never becomes more than medium-bodied. The finish is pleasantly gingery and more ethereal.

One of the shortest premium cigars with RM 50 - you'd better mix boldly to make an impression. The little dowel masters this task brilliantly! A decadent pause smoke for approx. 30 - 45 minutes.

Holla, the dwarf starts off with a distinctive roasted flavour and pepper spice, but quickly becomes more moderate. Espresso, cocoa, resin and fine spices form the basic flavour structure of the spiciest, strongest and least sweet Escurio. In addition to its above-average strength, the original bittersweet overtones of leather, orange and cinnamon are its unique and appealing feature. As intense as it is delicate, this unique blend shines for a short time, as it were, before lingering on the palate for an astonishingly long time.

No, our colleagues from the sawmill didn't count the series - No.s 1 and 4 disappeared in 2017 for marketing and allegedly political reasons (packaging regulations). However, this small format continues to burn - for a good ½ hour.

Not more concentrated, spicier and stronger, but rather a touch lighter and smoother than the ‘No. 3’, the chick of the line presents itself. More floral facets, more flattering sweetness - here even reminiscent of yellow fruits -, more cedar; but less nutty, roasted and darker wood/resin flavours. A fragrant, delicate cigar for the early hours of a decadent, lazy Sunday, with a ‘bright’, friendly flavour and silky smoke consistency. Recommended for discerning beginners and experienced smokers alike.

The new millennium is characterised by the upswing in Nicaraguan cigar production with its tendency towards strong, spicy smokes. Davidoff responded to this with this line. The Robusto (Largo) is the sales star and burns for approx. 60 - 70 minutes.

The blend is a feast for discerning aficionados who don't want a ‘dessert to smoke’, but cigars with a noble, unadulterated spicy tobacco flavour. The Robusto realises this concept perfectly, but is somewhat gentler than the other formats. Coffee, wood and ethereal herbal flavours also determine its taste, but it also has a certain bitter-sweet ‘chocolateiness’ with subtle liquorice notes as a unique selling point. A savoury, perfectly balanced smoking experience with - of course! - impeccable burn.

The smallest of the series has 1/3 - ½ the smoking time of a ‘real’ Churchill (approx. 40 - 50 minutes) and smokes like one in terms of feel - but like the back part, it is an intense pleasure!

Flavours

This powerful blend makes a powerful impression even in small format. Its characteristics are present from the very first puff - with a wonderful aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, extremely pleasant earthy pepper spice, light caramel sweetness and a very unique, fruity-sour mineral note reminiscent of green apples. A furious development is of course not to be expected from four inches, but the PC offers a polyphonic flavour concert of high intensity and considerable strength from lighting up to putting it down. The perfect end to a weekend late on a Sunday evening!

The two thickest formats were added when the series was restructured in 2017. Clearly tailored to the needs of friends of mild fine cigars, they are clearly lighter than the Coronas. The thick Robusto burns for approx. 55 - 70 minutes.

Flavours

It is a special feat of the ‘Master Blender’ to give a blend with a low nicotine content, i.e. a little spicy ligero, body and substance. Here it has been a great success - a finely chiselled potpourri of elegant wood aromas forms the framework of the Robusto, sometimes reminiscent of H. Upmann cigars, but with the classic Davidoff touch. At the same time, it is distinctly sweet and downright creamy; a marvellous light ‘dessert cigar’ to indulge in! The roasted tones typical of the series accompany the course of the smoke discreetly in the background.

According to Cuban standards, the PC contains about the same amount of tobacco as a minuto. As is usual with such small formats, it succinctly brings out the character of the tobacco blend in a manageable time frame (30 - 40 minutes).

The flavour of this medium-bodied cigar is typically somewhat more concentrated than that of its larger sisters. A variety of dark roasted coffee flavours (mocha!), wonderfully silky smoke, the pleasantly tangy astringency of premium black tea, spicy, resinous notes and a lovely restrained sweetness combine to create a balanced, quite intense aroma. As the smoke progresses, it becomes a little earthier, the mocha flavour even more pronounced and the strength increases slightly. Much more substantial than the light series, but not only suitable for experienced smokers.

It's actually strange that this noble series didn't include a Toro right from the start. This gap has now been filled in the most pleasant way - like all the cigars in the series, a great thing. The company's 55 - 70 min. smoking time claim is a slight understatement.

Everything that the numerous friends of this blend love is here in perfection: The unmistakable melange of bittersweet cocoa tones with striking, heavy oak notes forms the basic framework throughout the entire smoke, to which a veritable flood of harmonious flavour facets is attached. The homely scents of moss and pine needles can be sensed as well as malt and peat, nutmeg and a teasing hint of clove. A noble-tart cigar in the very best sense, full of spice and spicy vegatale nuances - more for knowledgeable aficionados, but no more than good medium strength. The usual top quality!

Where the blends for the Toro format of a series are often ‘toned down’ somewhat, this one offers the full power of the full-bodied blend. Experienced smokers in particular will sink enthusiastically into their deepest armchair for 75 - 90 minutes with this top cigar!

Although the flavour is similar to that of the Robusto (see there), the long version still has its own fascinating nuances to offer. Delicate floral nuances in the first third, for example, which lend colour and variety to the otherwise rather ‘dark’ aroma; clear caramel tones instead of the rather ethereal sweetness; even clearer coffee notes in the roasty-spicy components; finally - especially in the final part - noticeably greater strength. Otherwise, everything that makes the blend special is there: cocoa, lots of wood flavours, fine leather, well-dosed spices. It makes you want to sit a little longer!
