Cedar and nut - most likely almond - have always played the most prominent roles in the ‘1492’ blend. Here, too, they can be tasted from the first puff, flanked by a delightful honey/caramel sweetness that doesn't fade until you put it down. The smoke is almost creamy, increasingly redolent of fresh coffee, developing a noticeable, subtly peppery spiciness in the second half - another typical feature of the range - without becoming significantly stronger or overpowering. Der damals 28-jährige Kaufmann Jean Villiger gründete im Jahr 1888 eine Cigarrenfabrik namens Villiger im eigenen Wohnhaus in Pfeffikon. Unterstützung hatte er vor allem von seiner Frau Louise Villiger, die das Unternehmen nach seinem frühen Tod im Jahre 1902 weiterführte. In Deutschland gründete Sie 1910 eine Tochtergesellschaft, die heutige VILLIGER SÖHNE GmbH in Waldshut-Tiengen und setzte damit die Schweizer Qualität international durch. Heinrich Villiger übernahm zunächst die Verantwortung über den Rohtabakeinkauf und als sich 1954 Hans Villiger in den Ruhestand verabschiedete, übernimmt er dessen Nachfolge. Bereits vier Jahre später wird Heinrich Villiger als Geschäftsführer der Villiger Söhne GmbH in Waldshut-Tiengen einberufen. Noch heute ist Heinrich Villiger stets der Kopf der VILLIGER SÖHNE Holding und kann auf 130 Jahre erfolgreiche Firmengeschichte und Familientradition zurückblicken. Der Fokus von Villiger Söhne liegt auf die Qualität der Zigarren. Nur besonders hochwertige Tabake werden für die Produktion von Villiger Zigarren verarbeitet und vollständig von Hand gerollt.

At the suggestion of the French tobacco monopoly (SEITA), Cubatabacos introduced the Quai D'Orsay brand exclusively for the French market in the mid-1970s. The brand is named after the famous Parisian street on the banks of the Seine, where SEITA's headquarters were located at the time. For over 40 years, Quai D'Orsay cigars led a shadowy existence in the Habanos portfolio, but this only changed with the relaunch in 2017 when the brand's range was reorganised to include one classic and two contemporary formats.

To celebrate the brand's 50th anniversary in style, Habanos S.A. is now launching a smart leather case in the brand's classic colours that can hold up to three cigars with a 52 ring gauge. The upper part of the adjustable cigar case is covered with yellow-orange grained leather, while the "Quai D'Orsay" logo and the 50 for the anniversary are stamped on the smooth gold-coloured lower part. The outer box of the case was designed to match in the same colours and the 50 on the lid.
