It is gradually becoming a nice tradition at Cohiba to honor the Chinese New Year with a super-elaborate and extremely nobly designed limited edition of the cigarillo bestseller "Short". In the current "Year of the Rabbit", 88 pieces each (the 8 is a lucky number in China) in a total of 15,888 cedar caskets are again coming onto the world market. As usual, a stylish motif of the eponymous Master Lamp adorns the lid of the lacquered boxes. And with a lot of luck you can even get hold of one of the 28 "Gold Editions" - here the bunny symbol is encased in 24-carat gold, and each cigarillo is adorned with 2 extra anillas applied by hand! The perfect collector's item for all Cuba aficionados, and not to forget: 88 times a good quarter of an hour of high pleasure at its finest.

Whow! Immediately present, immediately entrancing is the unmistakable flavor of the brand. Velvety, delicately sweet, floral-grassy, but also nutty-roasty tasting smoke lets anyone who has ever enjoyed a premium Cohiba recognize the brand affiliation with the first puff. Unbelievable how close you can get to the quality of the long filler with short filler filler and RM 27! A "Short" actually tastes like a Cohiba Robusto in a Lilliput format and never gets heated. Insanely delicious!

Cohiba ist die Spitzenmarke unter den Habanos. Sie wurde 1966 ganz persönlich für den Máximo Líder Fidel Castro erschaffen. Ihr Entstehungsort war lange Zeit ein großes Geheimnis, denn niemand sollte wissen, woher sie stammte. Im Grunde war Cohiba lange Zeit die inoffizielle Hausmarke der Staatsführung und außerhalb dieses Zirkels praktisch nicht zu ergattern. Mit einer großen Ausnahme: als Geschenk, welches nur hochrangigen Staatsgästen vorbehalten blieb. Erst 1982 entschloss man sich, ein limitiertes Kontingent auch in den freien Handel zu bringen. Spätestens zu diesem Zeitpunkt wurde auch der Ort der Entstehung unter den Aficionados dieser Welt richtig bekannt: die Manufaktur El Laguito in Havanna. Die ehemalige Villa eines Zuckerbarons ist die Wiege dieser ersten postrevolutionären Marke. Sie liegt ein gutes Stück außerhalb der Stadt im Stadtteil Cubanacán, deshalb konnte ihre Lage so lange geheim bleiben. Hier wird die Auslese der Auslese zu einer Cohiba zusammengestellt – zum Nonplusultra unter den Habanos.
