Edmundo Dantes 15 Years

What you need to know

The production of Edmundo Dantes molasses rum is limited to 3000 bottles per year. It is produced by the company Santiago de Cuba. This was founded in Cuba in 1872 under the name Matusalem Distillery. The subsequent period is characterized by various changes of ownership. The rum achieved great fame during Prohibition in 1930, when many Americans traveled to Cuba to drink as a result of the ban on alcohol in the USA. After Fidel Castro came to power in 1959, he also took over the distillery, which had previously been run by descendants of the company founder. They then emigrated to the USA and tried quite unsuccessfully to continue running the company there. Since 2001, the rum has been produced in the Dominican Republic and the name of the original Matusalem Rum has been changed to Santiago de Cuba.

Aromas

Optically, the Edmundo Dantes shines in dark golden amber reminiscent of mahogany. The lush, dense tears in the glass are crystal clear. On the nose, it surprises with its power and elegance, as well as exotic spice, citrus fruit, roasted dried fruit, malt and noble wood aromas. The taste is initially sweet on the palate, natural and with an exceptional entry, which changes as soon as it unfolds its full-bodied and complex texture with vanilla, coffee, tobacco, dried fruit and cocoa aromas. The long-lasting finish is rounded off with full-bodied notes of exotic fruits.
