Worth knowing

The manufacturer proudly points out that these Robustos "weigh on average about 10% more than their Cuban cousins". Well, that doesn't necessarily mean anything - but the fact is that the super-rolled cigar delights for about 55 - 65 minutes with wonderfully dense aromas.

Flavours

The wrapper is a Cotui from the DomRep instead of a Brazilian Cubra - otherwise the blend is the same as the Lancero, though presumably in a different proportion. The Broadleaf comes into its own more strongly, bringing in rich spice and its characteristic smoky notes. In general, the flavour of the smoke - which is no more than medium-bodied - is strikingly deep and rich, with an earthy, malty undertone and plenty of dark chocolate on the palate. But the softer tones of the blend are also crystal clear - cream, vanilla, nuts, with a hint of fruit in between. Highly entertaining!
